Dynamic Connector making diagonal lines vs. right angles
Using Visio 2000, the dynamic connector tool always made right angled
connectors. For some reason now the lines are diagonals and when grabbing the handles and adjusting them the connectors become a mass of off-angle lines. I can't find any setting to change. How do I get back to right angles? help! |

Dynamic Connector making diagonal lines vs. right angles
Hi, settings a
Style - simple Direction - top to bottom Separate - unrelated lines Overlap - using routing style add line jumps to - horizontal lines line jump style - arc horiz size - .666 vert size - .666 Move other shapes away on drop - not checked. It is not obvious what setting to change. Any other advice? Thanks, Brian "Paul Herber" wrote: On Tue, 8 Apr 2008 04:56:00 -0700, deleenhe wrote: Using Visio 2000, the dynamic connector tool always made right angled connectors. Select connector
right click Right Angle Connector and not Straight Connector Let us know if it was this. Dynamic Connector making diagonal lines vs. right angles
When I right click on the connector in the stenci, the only options I get are
"copy, select all, and help". I don't see any reference to a right angle anywhere in the menu. Even right clicking on the connector already in a drawing, I don't have an option of "right angle" that I can find. Please keep it coming! Try this .. create a new document of the same type (flowchart, blocks, whatever), drop some shapes on the diagram then join with the connector. Now what do you see when you right-click on the connector? If this yields no new insights then please feel free to email me one of the offending diagrams and I'll take a look. paul (at) pherber (dot) com -- Regards, Paul Herber, Sandrila Ltd. Dynamic Connector making diagonal lines vs. right angles
Are you working in Visio 2003 now ? That is nog 100 % clear in your message.
Are you working with the original "Dynamic connector" ? I don't know how to verify that. With which template or stencil are you working ? Did you get the connector from the tool bar or from a stencil ? "deleenhe" wrote: When I right click on the connector in the stenci, the only options I get are "copy, select all, and help". Dynamic Connector making diagonal lines vs. right angles
I am working with Visio 2000. I am selecting the Dynamic Connector from the
"Basic Flowchart Shapes" stencil. Even if I select the connector tool from teh toolbar I get the same result. Creating a new drawing using the basic flowchart template gives the same result. I now see what you mean with selecting "right angle" from the routing menu but it does not change how the connector behaves. I can email you an example if you wish. Thanks. Please keep it coming! Hi Brian, right, I've had a look and have a couple of ideas. a. I suspect your Visio installation has been corrupted, that might be why you don't see the right-click menu items on the connector. b. In the example diagram you sent, naturally I don't see the same behaviour! But, what I do see is that the connectors have an abnormal routing setting. In the shape's shapesheet set ConFixedCode to 0 (it is currently set to 3). Now, what I don't know is how it gets set to 3. -- Regards, Paul Herber, Sandrila Ltd.
