Why get multiple copies of file when try to delete
I have the same problem. But there seems to be no reply to Ged's question. If
there is one around please mail to me "Ged" wrote: Help - I have some word files saved in my C drive. When I delete them they make copies. As I try to delete the originals and the copies more reappear. Entitled Copy (2) of a copy of a copy of copy of (then original file name). Or copy (3) of a copy etc. It's like a cancer the files just keep multiplying as I try to delete them more and then more appear. The last time this happened I had well over a hundred copies of just a few files in my C drive. I kept deleting them and then for some unknown reason they finally deleted after an hour or so of trying. This time they are multiplying even more and I have copy (18) of one of the files. |

Did you click the "plus" to show replies, if using the MS web interface?
Anyhow, I seem to remember that this was a virus causing it. But it's a Windows question, not a Word question anyhow. Try your university tech dept, they should be able to help you with updated virus scanning. On 1/16/05 2:01 PM, "ucsd" wrote: I have the same problem. Thanks for responding. It was not a virus - checked that immediately.
However, I was able to fix the problem by going to FTP and deleting all the copies that way, then no new copies were generated.
