Default Upgrading to Publisher 2007, while in Office 2003 SP2

My question is in 3 parts:
- Can I upgarde to Publisher 2007 only, while still using the other
applications within Office 2003? if so, will I be able to email a Publisher
2007 document through Outlook 2003 (as I am able to with Publisher 2003)?
- I have purchased Office 2007 Professional Upgrade, and am curious to know
if I can limit my upgrade (using custom installation options) to Publisher
2007 only, or do I have to purchase a Publisher 2007 stand alone version?
- I installed, but did not activate, a recently purchased version of Office
2007 Professional (Upgrade) to test it with other software and found:
- Symantec WinFax Pro 10.02 will no longer recognize Outlook contacts,
for
use in faxing from Office 2003 applications (absolutely necessary for
me)
- WinFax Pro macros are no longer picked up by 2007 Excel, Word.
- Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.0 add-ins are not registered.
I cloned an old hard drive to test Office 2007 prior to counting on it...

Any input would be apprciated

Yes, you can upgrade Publisher alone.

No, you cannot email a Pub 2007 doc with Outlook 2003.

Yes, you could get Office Pro and only upgrade Publisher but that sounds
like a tremendous waste of money.

I don't fax anything so I can't help there.

Acrobat is not fully compatible with Office 2007 or Vista yet. v8 was
released before those products so testing is still underway. A patch for v8
is scheduled for sometime mid-year. Earlier versions of Acrobat will not be
patched.

JoAnn:

Thanks for the reply. My issues were discovered after I had already
purchased the Office Pro upgrade, cloned my laptop hard drive, and tried it -
without the fear of an unresolved conflict.

Bug Symantec for a new version of WinFax. Don't hold your breath though,
as Symantec is a pain in the proverbials.

I don't understand the comment that Acrobat is not compatible with Office
2007. I have been using Office 2007 since January 30, 2007 with Adobe
Acrobat 6.0 to produce .pdf for e-mailing our clubs news letter. However,
it is not an add-in, just a printer driver. Even primopdf and win2pdf work
in the same manner.

I prefer something that will allow me to create .pdf files regardless of the
application plus I often have the need to edit .pdf files, create
interactive forms, and combine/split .pdf files.

It's not fully compatible. I'm not saying that it won't work - it will to
varying degrees. I can create a .pdf file but I can't enable user rights to
make a form to users with Reader v7 or 8 can fill out and save the file.

Same version of Outlook or newer, not older. Outlook Express is a different
critter. In this case, it's actually a more flexible tool.

I don't understand JoAnn's response. I can email a Publisher 2007 document
as a message in OE6, so I see no reason why you should not be able to use
Pub 2007 with Outlook 2003 as you did with Pub 2003. I have read that while
you can generally run multiple versions of Office on the same computer, you
cannot run multiple versions of Outlook. You might try a custom install of
Office 2007 without Outlook 2007, although Symantic has never played well
with Office, and you might get other conflicts.

Surely that can't be true? I don't use Outlook, but didn't Pub 2003 require
Outlook 2002 or newer (and OE5 or newer)? Are you saying that if I were to
upgrade Pub 2003 by buying and installing Pub 2007 only, and use Outlook
2003 as my default email client, that I would loose the ability to email a
Publisher email publication as a message using Outlook 2003...or even
Outlook 2002? Is this perhaps just the case for the new email merge function
that is available with Pub 2007, rather than just sending one message?
Surely MSFT would not hobble Pub 2007 like that...tell me it ain't so...

What about using the new email client that comes with Vista and replaced OE?
Does that work?
