Missing contacts after Windows 7 clean install

Consider copying the old contacts to the new default Contacts folder. Open
the old Contacts folder, press Ctrl+A to select all of the contacts, then
right-click and drag the selection to the new Contacts folder. Release the
mouse button and choose Copy. Then close the old PST by right-clicking its
root and choosing Close.

This is really annoying. Microsoft Oulook 2007 contacts are not visible in
Windows 7 Fax and Scan address book even after doing everything you have
suggested. I have opened the old .pst file instead of importing it which
enabled the option to choose Contacts as an address book under Properties.
However, the check box reverted to grey after a couple of times I opened
Outlook. Even before it turned grey again, the contacts were not visible in
the Address book. More damning is the fact that I added another Contact group
to the Address Book and it does not show up anywhere.

Could it be that Microsoft designed and developed software does not work
with their own Windows 7?

What did work is that I had to open Outlook select the properties of
contacts groups (family, work ect.) and click on Outlook Address Tab then
put a check in the box to Show this folder as an e-mail Address Book.

I am looking for a solution to this problem too. If you have come across a
solution, please let me know and I will do the same.

Already posted. Create a new Outlook profile from scratch. You corrupted
yours.

Windows migration to have all settings as in old computer but because of this
bug I must made again all setting in Outlook from beginning. It's crazy...

No. The bug has not been fixed.
If you migrate data properly, you won't run into this problem.

How to backup and restore Outlook

There is out-dated information on some of these pages, specifically with
regard to Outlook 2003 and 2007.

The main points to note:
1. Do NOT use the import/export function to move Outlook data from one
version to another - all you need to do is to copy the pst file, with
Outlook closed.

2. Do NOT paste the copied pst file into the default location - paste into
(for example) your Documents folder and then do File-Open-Outlook Data File
within Outlook.

Well, my friend and I came up with a work-around. He has his contacts
organized in categories within the contacts folder. So in the left
folder-list panel, we would create a new category for the first old category
ie new='friends1', old='friends'. Then click on 'friends', Ctrl 'A' the
contacts and drag them into 'friends1'. Remove 'friends' and move on to the
next.

In each case, we tested with a new message, clicking on the 'To' button, and
contact names would show up.

Now we were not done yet. Because we had sync'd outlook several time with
Dmailer software as well as dropping several .pst files in default local, the
'contact' code couldn't decide which was the default email for the contact
even-though they were the same, so it creates a drop down list in email box
on the contact form. We had to select the email in order to 'set it'.

After that, all the email addresses appeared in the Address Book. Its seem
a little convoluted but it worked and requires not too much effort - you kind
of get into a rhythm.

FYI: I dropped this fix in ". . . e-mail Address Book" is greyed out as well.
