Default How can I configure barcode input data type in MS-Access 2003

I like to create an Documant Inventory database using Access 2003. I attempt
to set one of the field names (let call Folder Number) that can take barcode
input from bardcode reader (or scanner). My goal is using barcode scanning
technique to scan hundreds of barcode number which each number can be
recognized by the specified field name, data type to avoid manually keying
hundreath barcode number. Please let me know what approach and/or how to
make it to work. Thank you.
