Default Synchronized combo box in a subform

I have created sychronized combo box in a subform. The subform itself works
when it is not being used as a subform. If I open up just the subform
itself, and not the form that contains it, the sync combo boxes work just
fine and are perfectly functional. If I open the form that contains my
subform and try to use the combo boxes, then I get an error about a Requery
and SetTempVar that I have set up. I'm not sure what the difference is
between it working as a form vs, not working as a subform. If you need more
information on this error to assist me I will go into great detail for you.
If I need to enter certain code in my macro, please list in specific detail
what needs to be done so I don't mess it up.

Thank you!!

I also forgot to mention that my subform is in a tabbed form too.

Form: card_info
tabbed form: TabCtl_card_info
tab: Exceptions
subform: exception_requests subform
combo box: exception_type
combo field to be updated: exception_category
