Boss' read receipt said a message I read was deleted w/o being rea

Default Boss' read receipt said a message I read was deleted w/o being rea

I use the preview pane. The message could have been the first message in my
queue in the morning, so I could have read it and deleted it without clicking
it. Would this send my boss a "delete without being read" receipt?

Yes, it is possible for this to happen.
