Outlook Express 6 to Outlook2000: Group addresses are missing
I have used Outlook Express for years on a Pentium 200 Windows 98. I
was able to successfully move it to Outlook Express 6 on our eMachine Windows XP,using Outlook 2000, via a LAN. However my Outlook 2000 groups are not quite right. All the addresses show up under Contacts, both on the main Outlook 2000 page and after clicking on the Address Book. My groups are not listed on the main page. My groups are listed to the left in the Address Book, but when I click on a group, no addresses for that group show up. I can manually move addresses into the groups, but that would be a big task at over 1500 addresses. Please help. Recently I exported my XP Outlook Express 6 addresses to a .WAB. Then I tried to import them using Outlook. There does not seem to be a choice for importing a .WAB file, and the only other option given is Outlook Express 4.x, 5. Am I missing something? Sincerely, |

OE uses groups in the address book. Outlook doesn't.
Therefore groups will not survive an import. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Howard" wrote in message om... I have used Outlook Express for years on a Pentium 200 Windows 98. Dear Russ, Thanks for your information. So, how do I sort my mailing
list in Outlook2000? I made a sub-FOLDER in Outlook Express 6, under my Main Identity Contacts, and copied the names in one of my GROUPS to that folder. That worked, so then the names were listed in the group and in the folder, but they were no longer listed in my overall Main Identity Contacts. When I deleted the sub-folder, it deleted my group listing, and these names are now nowhere to be found. (Luckily,I can go back to my other computer and recapture.) This is all in Outlook Express 6, in preparation to moving to Outlook 2000. How can I set up my names and addresses, so that I have a main listing of all names and addresses, and also sublists? This is a very very useful feature of Outlook Express. Surely it is also available in Outlook? Sincerely, Howard |
