copy email addresses from Outlook to Excel
What exists in the To: field of an email message does not constitute "a list
of email addresses." What appears there is controlled by the Sender, not Outlook. It is up to you to create a list of valid email addresses from that field, not Outlook. Outlook can help you by allowing you to create Contacts from that information. Once you do, you can printout whatever you want. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "spartique" wrote in message ... One of the most frusterating things about Outlook is trying to get a list of email addresses from an email and pasting it into another application like Word or Excel. For example, I wanted to create a list of email addresses for a customer I deal with. I had an email with all 20 or so email addresses. I did select all, copy, switch to Word and paste. Some of the email addresses are pasted, but some only display the person's name. So I had to select properties on each contact to get the email addresses one by one. Fix this. ---------------- This post is a suggestion for Microsoft, and Microsoft responds to the suggestions with the most votes. copy email addresses from Outlook to Excel
Normally one would simply create a view that includes the email address
fields and print it. Or use a mail merge to print your email addresses. If you try to print what's in the To: field, you'll get the display name not the email address. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "spartique" wrote in message news Russ, I don't think you understand me. All I want to do is get a 'dump' of email addresses from Outlook. The method I was using was to create an (but not send it), select a bunch of email addresses in the TO: field, copy all of the contacts from the TO: field and then paste into Word. The problem is that when you paste, sometimes it will paste the email address like this: , but sometimes it will display only the name like this "Some One". I do not want to go through my entire contact list and change the display name to be the email address instead of the name. That totally defeats the purpose of displaying the name at all.
