Default excel startup

After upgrading from Excel 2003 to Excel 2007, now when I start Excel, it
comes up with a message window that it is trying to open excelint.exe and the
format of the file does not match the file extension. I should check the file
to make sure it is not corrupted. I am not trying to open this file. I am
just starting Excel. Any ideas? thanks.

Check the XLStart directory to see if there is a file lurking there.

I am seeing the same thing with EXCEL 2007. My installation is a fresh
install (not an upgrade) and I am running VISTA ultimate. I have not idea
why this occuring, but it began just a few days ago.

Look for any files in XLSTART folder or alternate startup folder(if there is one
in 2007)

Move any files out of there.

Excel will try to open anything it finds in these folders(except for *.xlt
files)

I did some more digging on this .exe file. It was developed by SPSS Science
and is used by SigmaPlot to provide linkages with Excel. I confirmed this
with SYSTAT (software manufacturer). It is a safe file.
