Import "just" Address Book\Contacts

You copy your Contacts Folder into the data file before you close Outlook.

As you wrote, and rightfully so, I didn't follow your instructions.....and I
have no doubt your instructions are as clear as they can be....it is me, I
just don't seem to get it. I understand how to create a new Data File. The
steps that I can't seem to understand are the copy\Paste steps after Creating
the New data File, and then Copying the Contacts file once its pasted into
the laptop. When I copy and Paste I work with Folders or Files using
Explorer and I think you are guiding me to Copy\Paste within Outlook in some
manner(or at least Gordon's brief response to this posting where he wrote,
it's all perfromed within Outlook)...and I don't know how to.

I'm reading your instructions and instead of understanding the process you
are directing me to follow, becuase of my knowledge of Copy\Paste using
Explorer, I see, although I am sure the wrong way...but none the less how I
understand Copying\Pasting that I copy the Contacts Folder from my Desktop
and PASTE it into the Contacts Folder in my Laptop and Having Outlook opened,
etc....well, best said again, I don't get it.

I think I see your problem. You cannot use Windows Explorer for copying and
pasting Outlook data that is contained within an Outlook data file. You only
use Windows Explorer to transfer the entire file from one location to
another. Once you have transferred that file, you must then open it in
Outlook and copy the data you need from it to the file that installation of
Outlook is using.
You're not alone. Microsoft made the transfer of Outlook data ridiculously
complicated and counter-intuitive.

Now that you see....my lack of knowledge; and now that I know I can't use
Explorer to perform the copy...transfer, etc, can you direct me, realizing my
short comings....the copy from from Desktop....and the copy to...in my
laptop....which doesn't include using Explorer?

Well I already did in my instructions. Copying the data file from the
desktop to the laptop would use Windows Explorer (and whatever transfer
medium or connection you use). Copying data from one file to another is done
within Outlook after you have both files open in Outlook.

Were you needing instructions on how to Copy and Paste? It's no different in
Outlook than anywhere else. Just make sure you have both data files (e.g.,
Transfer.pst and the target installation's default.pst) open in Outlook and
both Contact Folders visible in the Navigation pane. Then:
1. Open the Contacts Folder in Transfer.pst
2. Edit Select All Edit Copy
3. Open the Contacts Folder in Default.pst
4. Edit Paste
