Powerpoint 2007
Okay, I am a graphic designer for a large corporation, and we do a lot of
Powerpoint. I have to say that this is the lamest, crappiest, upgrade I have ever seen from such a company. Want a partial list? Here it is! 1. No peel off pallettes, meaning screen real estate is sucked up by menues and slide thumbnails. 2. Must quit and restart powerpoint after having changed a linked file. 3. Where are the guides????? 4. No support for layers!!!!! 5. No shortcut keys, meaning again, I have to tie my left hand behind my back to constantly go up to the menu to access anything!!!! 6. Old PP I had to move objects out of the way to get the ones underneath. Now, in order to do the same, I have to go to that pallette which allows you to turn on or off an objects visibility. While this is an improvement, I still have to constantly go back and forth clicking and unclicking till my hand cramps up. This program is still so far behind any Adobe product, it is almost not worth buying, but if your company has to, well then you have no choice. As for me, all I can do is tell Microsoft... a) you suck, b) hire some graphics people to work with your programmers, because the programmers make LOUSY GUI designers, and c) you don't give a damn about your customers! |

Powerpoint 2007
2. Must quit and restart powerpoint after having changed a linked file.
Rightclick the linked object, choose Update. Looks like you can also customize an Update Links (all links, presumably, though it doesn't say so) onto the Quick Access toolbar) 3. Where are the guides????? Rightclick anywhere off the slides, choose Rulers & Guides. 4. No support for layers!!!!! No. 5. No shortcut keys, meaning again, I have to tie my left hand behind my back to constantly go up to the menu to access anything!!!! Which shortcut keys in particular are you missing? In theory, it's supposed to support all of the shortcuts from previous versions. 6. Old PP I had to move objects out of the way to get the ones underneath. Now, in order to do the same, I have to go to that pallette which allows you to turn on or off an objects visibility. While this is an improvement, I still have to constantly go back and forth clicking and unclicking till my hand cramps up. As in previous versions, you can use the Tab key to step through shapes on a slide; if there aren't too many, it's pretty quick. This program is still so far behind any Adobe product Yes and no. PowerPoint's WAY behind Adobe Illustrator as a drawing program, but then again, so is Acrobat. It's behind Adobe InDesign as a DTP/layout app, but then again, so is Photoshop. The point being that it's not a drawing or layout app, it's a presentation program. Adobe doesn't even have a competing product, having bought and dumped Persuasion years ago. Apples. Oranges. Like that. ----------------------------------------- Steve Rindsberg, PPT MVP PPT FAQ: www.pptfaq.com PPTools: www.pptools.com ================================================ |
