Microsoft Outlook 2007 on Vista Home Premium: IMAP does not create Deleted Items Folder and items in the Inbox cannot be deleted in one workstep
Use a view that hides deleted items and set the account to purge on folder
change - this will purge the folders frequently. With a folder in the IMAP account select, go to the Edit menu - select Purge, Purge options Outlook doesn't use deleted folders for IMAP. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com/ Outlook Tips by email: EMO - a weekly newsletter about Outlook and Exchange: "Karin King" wrote in message ... Hello, I hope you are still listening to that topic, even though the initial discussion is more than 1 year old. I had to re-install the operating system and the M.S. Office pack inclusive of M.S. Outlook. And - despite I was using M.D. Outlook 2007 for quite a while - this problem with not being able to delete items in the Inbox Folder in one workstep and the problmes with not havingt a Deleted Items Folder comes up. It is annoying to first first get the strikethrough on items in the inbox when clicking the "delete" button and afterwards have to go to Edit - purge. Is there a solution to that meanwhile? I did not come across that problem in M.S. Outlook until some days ago. And how to create a Deleted Folder under IMAP? I am using one.com as domain host. Is it wise to switch to POP and excaping M.S. Outlook problems? Karin Brian Tillman wrote: Deleting Email in Outlook 2007 14-Jan-08 Carol Mattick wrote: No, by examining the account type. ToolsAccount Settings should get you to a place you can view the account properties. I'm not at my OL 2007 system right now or I'd be more specific. Outlook uses PST for its data storage for all account types except Exchange. Normally I'd say that if the server contains "imap" in its name you'd be correct to assume it's an IMAP server, but since "imap.gamil.com", "smtp.gmail.com", and "pop.gmail.com" are all alias for the same servers, they're interchangeable and don't tell you anything about the account type. -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] EggHeadCafe - Software Developer Portal of Choice SQL Server Estimating Compression Savings http://www.eggheadcafe.com/tutorials...ating-com.aspx |
