Default Section Break Misbehaving

I have created a document that has a different first page, the next pages
have odd and even page numbering, I then added a last page with a Next Page
Section break - this was to make sure the last page was empty except for a
logo and had no headers and footers. It was then decided that the last page
wasn't needed, so I tried to delete it. When I deleted the next page section
break, I lost the odd and even footers and the next page section break just
moved itself to the previous page!!! I've been struggling with it for two
hours, Help!!!!!! please...

Thank you, that explains a lot. It's fine now. Your help was really
