Default Distribution Lists missing contacts

I've been working with a friend that is having a weird problem with Outlook
Express and Windows/XP. They have a few different distribution lists
created, and when they go back in to use one of those lists, there are
contacts that were on it before, but have just disappeared from the
distribution list. It is intermittant and seems to be very inconsistant as
well. I've watched them add contacts, and they do that properly. Then they
update the distribution list, and they do update the list properly. The
names that disappear, are almost always names that have been on the list
originally, or at least not the last ones that were added. I thought that
might have been the problem (not updating the list after selecting new
members), but that is not the case.

If any of you have any ideas, I'd really appreciate hearing them. This has
been ongoing for several months. The are up to date with all the fixes for
Windows, they are at service pack 3.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide,

Ron

Are they deleting them from Main Contacts after making the groups? The
names seem to have to be in both places.

Default Distribution Lists missing contacts

Twayne,

Thanks for your quick reply. That was the first question I asked them, and
they are not deleting the contacts. When the names disappear from the
distribution lists, all they do is re-add them and they are back. Also, it's
not the same names that get dropped from the distribution list. It may be
Dick this time, then Sally the next time, and Jane after that. None of those
three are the contacts that were recently added.

Thanks

Ron

Just out of curiosity, how large is the distribution list (amount in numbers). Also
is this distribution list a 3rd party or is it the Contact List on OE

Are you sure you're friend's using Outlook Express and not Outlook?

Is this "distribution list" a Group (folder) in (Windows) Address Book?

Default Distribution Lists missing contacts

Peter,

The list is about 25 to 30 people and it is built from the contacts in
Outlook Express.

Thanks for your help so far,

Ron
