"Unable to open your default e-mail folders" error after Outlook .
After an install of office 2003, outlook will not open. It says to create a
user account, but that doesn't help. I've rebooted, and instaled all updates. Any ideas? |

did you verify it's trying to open your pst? did you try renaming the pst?
That error often means there is a problem with the pst and it should (but doesn't always) create a new one when it can't find your pst. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Author, Teach Yourself Outlook 2003 in 24 Hours Coauthor, OneNote 2003 for Windows (Visual QuickStart Guide) Author, Google and Other Search Engines (Visual QuickStart Guide) Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com Join OneNote Tips mailing list: http://www.onenote-tips.net/ "jdamon" wrote in message ... Thanks for the suggestions. Sadly, they only changed the probelm. I've
tried creating a new pst and renaming old ones. Now when I start outlook, I get an error that says "Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Unable to open the Outlook window. The set of folders could not be opened." I got the same message with pst's "Outlook", "Archive", and "outlook1". Any other ideas? (I aslo tried a repair/install from rhe disc. ) "Diane Poremsky [MVP]" wrote: did you verify it's trying to open your pst? did you try renaming the pst? "Unable to open your default e-mail folders" error after Outlo
I am getting the same error message after reinstalling Windows XP and then
installing Office 2003. Prior to it I was using Office XP(2002). I have been able to set up my email account using the Control Panel/Mail icon and connect to the Exchange server because on clicking Check Name in the final step, it underlined my username. But when I launch Outlook 2003, I get the error message - "Unable to open your default e-mail folders. You must connect to your Microsoft Exchange Server computer with the current profile before you can synchronize your folders with your offline folder file." I click on OK and Outlook 2003 closes. Can you please give me a step-by-step solution? Thanks a lot. "jdamon" wrote: I tried a new profile using "archive" and it worked. Thanks for your help.
