Default Creating a new Drawing from an Existing Visio Template

Hello:
I have tried to create a new drawing based on an existing template that
comes with the application. The instructions a
From the File menu, point to New and click Choose Drawing Type.
In the Category list, click the category of drawing you want to create.
Under Template, click the type of drawing you want to create.

That simply opened a new drawing window with nothing in it!!!

I would like to open an exiting template and be able to edit and customize
it to fit my needs, but this does not help. I would not like to idea to
start dragging and dropping all the symbols and icons and build the drawing
from scratch, I think that is why we have templates for.

Thinking the application may have a problem I uninstalled and reinstalled
(no typical but completed) several times, I even installed on other PC and
did the office update thing. The problem remains the same.

any help from this newsgroup will be appreciated

I think you're misunderstanding what a Visio template is, but that's
understandable given how other programs use the term. In this case, the
template is a blank drawing with certain stencils loaded, depending on your
selection. Anything else would have to be created by you (or obtained from
another user) and maintained in a personal library of VSD files.
