How do I clear the " text marked with do not check spelling and grammar was
not checked"

I want to allow all the text to be checked. I was forwarded a document with
this format in it.

This is usually caused by a Style being created that isn't based on an
existing Style. Click your cursor in a paragraph of a known culprit, click
"Format", "Styles and Formatting" (might be Styles in an older version),
modify that Style by changing the "Language" used (probably set to "No
Language" right now). Depending on the version of Word you are using, there
might be a "Do not check spelling and grammar" checkbox that you need to
uncheck.

Which by the way is a great reminder to ALWAYS provide the version of Word
you are using since the steps might vary slightly by versions.

Ctrl+A to select the entire document. Then go to Tools | Language | Set
Language and make sure that the appropriate language is checked (instead of
"(no proofing)" in Word 97 and earlier) and that the box for "Do not check
spelling and grammar" is not checked (even grayed).
