Default Access Data Pages

Got to use OUTLOOK EXPRESS (part of all windows versions). Outlook doesn't
do newsgroups.

You can create email like folders in outlook express to save useful posts.

Try exploring the news groups with a news reader

Search through the news groups. You will have to subscribe to the news

Still no luck. Outlook Express, like Microsoft Outlook, claims that the server cannot be found. I appreciate the suggestion, though.

Use "news.microsoft.com" for the server -- works nicely for me with Outlook
Express. You may have to be an msn subscriber to use the MSN news server.

I submitted this post on the Internet newsgroup on July 8 and haven't had any responses. I'm hoping someone on this newsgroup can help me. (Normally, I wouldn't cross-post, but I'm not getting any help in the other newsgroup.)

I read a post from May and still have a few questions. I am creating a database for someone else that needs to have Internet access. I have created the access data pages, but I saved them on my hard drive because I don't understand how to set up the UNC and I don't have a web server. I need to upload the pages through an FTP or HTTP server and feel insecure about how to do that so that it finds the database properly once I've installed it on my client's machine. It will be a stand-alone desktop version with web access to the database.

I also don't know how to package a database with data access pages so that the data access pages will reference the database properly once I've installed it on someone else's machine. Please help.

Also, I read a post that stated that Access cannot connect through FTP or HTTP to the database. How, then, can I set up the database to communicate with the data access pages?

Please help me out. THANK YOU!

I have had many of the same questions you had. Have you found any material to
be real helpful? Thanks.

Judy,
I have found some helpful material. The first question you need to answer,
however, is does your web server support active server pages (ASP)? If you
host your own websites and you use IIS, the answer is yes, ASP is supported.
If you do not host your own websites, you need to ask your webhost. If ASP is
supported, you can learn ASP (for example from http://www.w3schools.com/asp/)
or use the Generic ASP database Bullschmidt suggested to me
(http://www.genericdb.com/). The webhosts my clients use do not support ASP
and I am therefore learning PHP and MySQL to recreate the databases that I
already created in Access. If you're your own webserver, you should be able
to deploy the Access Data Pages, but since I'm not, I don't have other
direction on how. I did, however, find this site that might help you:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/de.../deploydap.asp. I hope this information is useful to you.
