Default MS.Excel vs Works Spreadsheet

I am confused, why does Microsoft have two excatly alike
products on the market? Office XP and Ms. Works? Works is
is around $50 and MS Office XP sells for over $400? is
this the same product, just marketed different? Why pay
the extra $350 when with both packages you get a word
processor, spreadsheet and a database?

Please Advise,

Excel Guru

Office XP and MS Works are hardly exactly alike. Office has vastly more
features and tools. Your question is like asking why GM sells a Geo Metro
and a Hummer. Sure, they both have four tires and a steering wheel, but that
doesn't make them the same vehicle.
