Activities Not Showing - 2007
Well if the activity links were already broken in your previous PST file,
they would not be re-established by creating a new profile that uses the same file. You could only establish new ones. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "noelma" wrote in message news Hi Russ! Finally got time to try the proposed solution. No luck! Successfully created a new profile - pointed it at my existing pst file - syetem worked, but when i open a contact and click on activities, i get the same old message - nothing to show! Really frustrating!! I have a number of email addresses, so rather than re-create all the mail accounts, I have gone back to original profile. "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: Let the new profile create the other files. Obviously your archive.pst should be kept, but there is no need to relocate it. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "noelma" wrote in message news Hi Russ! I am about to create a new profile - but want to get it right first time as my Outlook is business critical! I have all the instructions for backing up and re-locating the .pst file, etc. My question - In the Outlook File there are other files in addition to outlook.pst. (outlook.nst, archive.pst, backup.pst, extend.dat, outlook.sharing.xml.obi, outlook.xml.kfl) - Do I copy ALL files and rename old ones, or will the new Outlook Profile create new versions? Hi Russ! Away for Easter so just read your response. Wow! And I thought I was following MS instructions to the letter! Ok - I am where I am. I understand how to make a backup of the pst file, and to re-locate it to a more appropriate folder. How do I create a "new profile"? Do I have to un-install and re-install Outlook, then point it at the backed up pst? N. "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: Upgrades NEVER "take care of data migration." Upgrade installations are not recommended. When you attempt one you must create a new Outlook Profile from scratch and migrate your data to it correctly. The file you need to migrate is your Personal Folders file (*.pst) It's where all the mail, calendar, contacts etc are stored. Take a look at these pages for info on Outlook data backup or transfer: http://www.slipstick.com/config/backup.htm http://www.howto-outlook.com/Howto/backupandrestore.htm http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/as...771141033.aspx Note that some of the information on these pages is outdated and no longer applies to Outlook 2003 or 2007. Specifically: 1. Ignore any advice to copy your PST file to Outlook's default location to connect it to your profile. Doing so only corrupts your profile. Copy it anywhere BUT the default location and open it within your Outlook profile. 2. Ignore any advice that tells you to use export or import to transfer Outlook data. That has never been sound advice, but the process has become too deeply flawed now to be of any use whatsoever. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "noelma" wrote in message ... I see several other messages on this - but no answers. I upgraded from 2003 to 2007. The upgrade took care of the data migration - when 2007 opened, all my 2003 data was there. So I assume the 2007 version simply used my existing pst file. However, my problem is that linked activities do not show consistantly in the Activities tab of the contact. I can open a contact, and there all there - close and re-open the same contact and none are displayed! |

Activities Not Showing - 2007
How weird is this? Today the activities ARE showing up!!!
Maybe it took some time to index or something? Fingers crossed!
