Default Hidden Contacts

I still don't understand what the problem is or why you don't understand what
I am talking about. If you open outlook select contacts, you get a list of
contacts. you can then select the tab "view" and select current view and then
select how the contacts are listed ("Phone List", "By Category", B\"By
Company", etc.). I any of the veiws selected, the hidden contacts are still
hidden.

I can't find any better way to explain it.

In your case we would need to know in what view you are seeing "several
Outlook Address Books" and what you mean by that.
The problem that most people face in this regard is in the address book view
of Outlook, which may contain several outdated references to Contacts Folder
that are no longer valid. Is that what your problem is?
If so, you would remove invalid references to Contacts Folders from the
address book view he Tools E-mail accounts View or change existing
directories or address books Outlook Address Book Change…
If your problem is something else, then state more clearly what it is. Keep
in mind that there is no separate address book in Outlook, only an address
book view of your Contacts Folders.

Imagine that none of us is sitting next to you watching your screen and
seeing what you're seeing. Then use your imagination to create a post that
describes your problem and the steps that we could use to reproduce it. If
you can't find a way to describe your problem then perhaps newsgroups are
not the best forum for your question and you should call PSS for help.

Default Hidden Contacts

Some general things you can try until we can understand your issue better:
since there is no such thing as "hidden contacts" in Outlook, it's more
likely that you have contacts in more places than you realize, especially
since you synch with an iPhone. Use Folder List view to get a complete view
of your folder hierarchy and see if Contacts are in more than one place.
Also, make sure you aren't confusing what you see in your autocompletion
cache with Contacts--they're not the same.

Default Hidden Contacts

i open outlook, then go to my contacts. in contacts, i go file, new, folder,
name it and it appears in the list. I change the properties of the folder so
that it is treated as an Outlook Address Book. I add contacts to it. All is
well for a long time. Now, I browse to that folder, and the contacts within
it are gone. can you help figure out where they went? Using Outlook 2003 on
an Exchange/Windows SErver 2003 platform.

"gail99" wrote:

i am confused - it clearly states in the properties of this "address list or

Again we don't know what you mean by "address books" - the only "Address
Book" Outlook uses is a special view of the Contacts folder used for
inserting email addresses into a new email...

If you read my 1st comments, I point out that by hidden, I mean that you can
go to that when you veiw the contacts, not all are visible. You can, however,
make a search for the contact and it will be found and be able to view the
contact information. if you do a search for another contact that should show

Default Hidden Contacts

What is there to understand. Although the contacts are available to view in
Outlook and most are, some cannot be veiwed unless you know which one is not
on the visible list and unless you go put into "search all contact items" and
then it becomes visible.

Maybe it is because you have not personlly seen the problem and can't
believe precisely what I am saying. That I can understand. I would also
would have a problem with it if it had not occured with me and have noted by
google searches that others have had the same problem and and without
resolution.

Default Hidden Contacts

Most will resolve their problem if they follow the suggestions I gave you.

What is there to understand. Although the contacts are available to view
in
Outlook and most are, some cannot be veiwed unless you know which one is
not
on the visible list and unless you go put into "search all contact items"
and
then it becomes visible.

Maybe it is because you have not personlly seen the problem and can't
believe precisely what I am saying. That I can understand. I would also
would have a problem with it if it had not occured with me and have noted
by
google searches that others have had the same problem and and without
resolution.

If you read my 1st comments, I point out that by hidden, I mean that
you
can
go to that when you veiw the contacts, not all are visible. You can,
however,
make a search for the contact and it will be found and be able to view
the
contact information. if you do a search for another contact that should
show
in the list of contacts, it will also show up on the search. Those
"hidden
contacts' will not show up with doing a search and then only in the
search
results.

I can't understand why others understand what I am saying and you
cannot

Some general things you can try until we can understand your issue
better:
since there is no such thing as "hidden contacts" in Outlook, it's
more
likely that you have contacts in more places than you realize,
especially
since you synch with an iPhone. Use Folder List view to get a complete
view
of your folder hierarchy and see if Contacts are in more than one
place.
Also, make sure you aren't confusing what you see in your
autocompletion
cache with Contacts--they're not the same.

I still don't understand what the problem is or why you don't
understand
what
I am talking about. If you open outlook select contacts, you get a
list
of
contacts. you can then select the tab "view" and select current view
and
then
select how the contacts are listed ("Phone List", "By Category",
B\"By
Company", etc.). I any of the veiws selected, the hidden contacts
are
still
hidden.

I can't find any better way to explain it.

In your case we would need to know in what view you are seeing
"several
Outlook Address Books" and what you mean by that.
The problem that most people face in this regard is in the address
book
view
of Outlook, which may contain several outdated references to
Contacts
Folder
that are no longer valid. Is that what your problem is?
If so, you would remove invalid references to Contacts Folders from
the
address book view he Tools E-mail accounts View or change
existing
directories or address books Outlook Address Book Change…
If your problem is something else, then state more clearly what it
is.
Keep
in mind that there is no separate address book in Outlook, only an
address
book view of your Contacts Folders.

They
