Default Outlook 2K3 New computer auto-fill To: field?

That means either outlook isn't closing completely or the profile is
corrupt.

I am having a similar problem with autocomplete. I have Windows XP and
Microsoft 2007. The autocomplete feature is checked in Outlook. The
autocomplete feature works as long as Outlook is on. However, if you
close
Outlook and open it back up, the autocomplete feature doesn't work and it
is
still checked in the options menu. I have searched for the nk2 file and
it
does not show up on the search. I have made sure the advanced options
showed
the hidden files, but it still doesn't find it. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,
Teresa

I have removed outlook 2007 completely as well and reloaded!!
Any suggestions?

Is there a size limit to this .nk2 file? Is there any way to restore a
version from yesterday?

I sent an email to a couple of thousand people and now my auto-complete
feature is only showing those names. I am missing a lot of other ones that
used to be there?

Any ideas?

Thank you...

2,000 entries. Add a new entry after that and the oldest one will be removed.

I have Windows 7 and Outlook 2007 and I have the same problem like Chris, no
..nk2 file (the Suggest names while completing To, Cc, and Bcc fields is ON).
In the folder drive:\user\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook I found a file
spscoll.dat which contains an amount of the names used by me but the list is
far not complete.
What you sugest, where to look for the file?

"Chris" wrote:

Thanks for saying this.. that is what I thought...
Apparently Vista is different.. I thought maybe there was a permission issue
where the user didnt have rights to make a file.. so I created one myself
with no luck..
this might be a rare case.. but there is no file .nk2, except for the one I
created...

anyone have any ideas? I have already turned off antivirus scanning and any
type of spam blocker that might interfere with the file being created and or
updated??

Anyone have a sample file I can use and see if it works?

The file is a hidden file. If you have enabled autocompletion it exists.
File locations are well documented in the public domain:

See http://www.slipstick.com/problems/nicknamecache.asp for the file path

Of course I have enabled the view of hidden files!
Thank you the hint to go to the
http://www.slipstick.com/config/backup2007.asp webpage. With the help of this
I realised that the Outlook 2007 Help for this information is wrong!!!
Outlook 2007 Help information is:
On your old computer, choose one of the following: Windows Vista Go to
drive:\user\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook.

The information on http://www.slipstick.com/config/backup2007.asp is:
Vista and Windows 7 File Locations: Nicknames for AutoComplete is
C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Outlook
AND THIS IS THE CORRECT PATH!!!

Please notify others as well

Thanks
Munti

I have just moved up to Outlook 2007 after many many years of using Outlook
Express. Do I understand correctly, that autocomplete only works based names
you have already typed in previously? In OE, auto complete suggested names
based on your entire address book - a much more valuable way to go.

Thx....Randy (still puzzling over all the changes)

You are correct in your understanding. Your opinion on the other had is a
matter of debate. Many of us find it more useful to have our most recent
recipients at our disposal rather than every single address in our Contacts
database, many of which we will never use and would prefer not to have to
sift through every time.
