Default Font problem with different Publisher Versions

I have MS Publisher 98 and MS Publisher 2000, and I could use some help on an
issue that keeps me locked in to MS Publisher 98.

I publish a newsletter in english and hebrew using MS Publisher 98. I use
Times New Roman and I use hebrew letters by inserting symbols into the text
-- nothing fancy, just selecting symbols from the Times New Roman font set.

When I try to open this *.pub document in MS Publisher 2000 (or 2003), I get
a warning that "font substitution is needed for the Times New Roman Hebrew
fonts". (of course, the fonts won't display properly, even when i try to
substitute with a hebrew font ... but that's another issue; subject for
another post.)

Why doesn't MS Publisher (later versions) acknowledge the Hebrew symbols as
part of the Times New Roman font? What's going on? How can I take my MS
Publisher 98 files forward and use them with later versions of MS Publisher?

Help would be appreciated, since I'm really trying to move to more recent
version(s) and this issue is holding me back.

Thanks,

ted

I cannot duplicate this. Maybe I am not doing what you are doing. I created a text
box in 98, inserted quite a lot of Hebrew symbols, it remained intact without an font
substitution error in 2000 and 2003.

Have you installed the service packs for Office 2000?

Do a detect and repair.

Thanks soooo... much! Your response gave me confidence that there was hope
at the end of the tunnel. I went back to the problem analysis stage and
found that ANOTHER font had crept into the process, and THAT was the one
giving me trouble.

I now can move to the next version! Thanks again, Mary!
