Default Setting a Counter?

I run Access 2003 and I'm creating a database to track shipments returning to
my company. I have about 6 or 7 different reasons for these returns, and I'd
like to have a place on the top of a report that would give a rundown of the
different reasons.

Example:
Shipment issue = 10
Customer Order Issue = 5
etc etc etc

I have the report created to detail each instance, but I'd like this at the
top to give a quick glance idea of where we sit.

What'd be best is if I could use a pie graph that updates. I found a way to
insert a pie graph, but I couldn't get it to show the data. This might be
because I don't have the data in a format that it needs.

Is there a way to have Access automatically 'count' each type of Reason for
Return, and convert that data into a graph on the Report??
