Forms question
I have a database of providers. Each provider may or may not work with a
vendor, and some may work with the same vendor. I am attempting to create a tab that contains vendor information if needed. On my form, I want the Vendor Name field to be a combo box that contains a drop down of all vendors that exist in the database. When the user selects one of these from the list, I want the address, phone number, etc. field to populate with that particular vendor's information. If the user needs a vendor that is not already in the database, I want them to be able to type the information in the blank fields. How can I do this? Thank you for any assistance. |

If you're trying to store the vendor information in a separate table, bewa this is generally a Bad Idea. You could end up with a situation where a vendor has changed their address (and this change has been duly made in the Vendor table) but this change will NOT be automatically reflected in this second table. I'd suggest just storing the VendorID in this table, and using the NotInList event of the Vendor combo box to open up a vendor data entry form if a new vendor is entered. See http://www.mvps.org/access and search for "NotInList" for sample code. John W. Vinson[MVP] |
