Default Access 2000 to 2003 mail merge to word

The DB we have was created in 2000. On my test computer, I upgraded to Office 2003 and am testing the mail merge. We run the query to get the information and then click our merge to word button. Everything is normal until Word comes up; then I get the Data Link Properties box. It asks for a password, then says I don't have permission. You can cancel, but then it freezes for a while. Can I get around this problem without recreating the letters in 2003?
