There are no instructions for importing from OE that would ever tell you to
open the Outlook Address Book. That's never where importing is done. Clarify what you did. Include your versions. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "JamesJ" wrote in message ... Outlook 2003. Am I the only one who has a selection for Address Book
Ctrl+Shift+B under the Tools menu?? Anyway, when I select Address Book from the Tools menu Outlook tells me it can't open the address list. I would put every bit of the message Outlook displays in this post if someone can tell me how to copy and paste from a dialog. The message does tell me to see Microsoft Office Outlook Help. This is an Outlook Express (.wab) address book. I don't get any error messages during importing I just have no idea where Outlook imports it to. Of course everyone has an Outlook Address Book. What I was telling you is
that no instructions for importing addresses from OE would ever tell you to open the Outlook Address Book. That message simply means you've managed to corrupt your Outlook Address Book settings. You'll see answers to that question posted here every day. It is not unusual for the Outlook Address Book to "lose track" of the connection to its Contacts Folder when you move or import your PST or update your Outlook version or operating system. Use the following steps to reset the connection. Note that in some instances you may actually have to remove the Outlook Address Book completely from your Profile, close Outlook, and then re-add it before you can get it to work. Make sure the Contact folder is enabled as an email address book. Right click the Contacts folder, choose Properties then Outlook Address Book. Is the box to enable as email address book checked? If this is grayed out...Go to Tools | Email Accounts, choose View or change existing directories or address book. Is the Outlook Address Book present? If it isn't listed, add it and close and restart Outlook. If it is listed, then remove it and close then restart Outlook and repeat these steps to add it.
