You Do Not Have Exclusive Access at this time
System: Access 2003 running on Windows XP SP3, Server 2003 domain
When one user of mine starts Access and logs into it, he gets the message "You do not have exclusive access to the database at this time." He must click a button on that message box 8 times to get by the same message appearing 8 times. He is logging in the same way as everyone else. He should no be entering any design mode. This happens all the time, especially when others are on that same database. Why is this happening and how do I stop it. Thanks in advance. |

Users shouldn't share the same db file. Common cause of corruption and
"sharing" problems. Split the db into a front end and back end. The back end contains the tables and relationships only. Put it on the network share. The front end contains everything else and links to the tables. Put a copy of this front end on each user's desktop. Now they're not sharing the same db file. The Adobe toolbar for Office requires exclusive access to the db file. Disable the Access toolbar, but leave the other Office toolbars as they are. Thanks. We've never experienced any problems with our databases not being
split like that, but I'll consider it for the future. Any that were split (before my time) had links to the front end placed on the users' desktops. The front and back ends were both on the network share. We also do not have the Adobe toolbar, but the user in question does have another one, unique to him. I'll try removing that and see. Thanks again. "Chris O'C via AccessMonster.com" wrote: Users shouldn't share the same db file. Common cause of corruption and "sharing" problems. Split the db into a front end and back end.
