Linking tables to a relative path
I have a split Access 2000 DB with linked tables. I want to create a
standalone copy of this DB on another PC without having to manually link the tables again because I won't be there installing it on-site. Is there a way of linking the tables to the front-end by a relative path rather than an absolute one specific to one machine? I'd rather not have to write an installer that installs to a definite path like Program files but thats the only way I can think of getting round this. -- Thanks Paul |

No. You cannot use a relative path in the Connect property of a TableDef.
If you would like to have the user locate the back end mdb using the normal FileOpen dialog, and then relink all the tables, there is an example of how to do that in the relinking module of solutions.mdb. You can download that from: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/of...dbdownload.htm -- Allen Browne - Microsoft MVP. Perth, Western Australia.
