Database Design for Inventory Control
I am task to design an inventory control database for raw materials and
partly assembled goods. It includes different stations & location. For the Warehouse, raw materials are only being counted but for Production which consists of different stations, where in per station, a raw material is being added until it makes the finish product. The idea of the database is to generate a report that will give a summary of all raw materials on the location stated (warehouse & Production). Hope you could help me. |

AP, netiquette asks that you don't cross-post until you haven't had a response to your first one. The task you outline is huge. It is not for a novice so be aware that there is a very steep learning curve. Unlike Word. Powerpoint or Excel, Access isn't a pick-it-up-and-use-it type of application. An understanding of data desgn is the first skill to get up to speed on. Don't let this discourage you, many on these groups have never been trained either and got here just by grafting at it. It usually takes at least 3 years to get proficient that way, mostly by making lots and lots of mistakes from mistaken assumptions and particularly from looking at an Access table as a spreadsheet. To help you shorten the learning curve, here's some critical reading...
