everything seems to be working fine now. thank you Russ, for your help and patience. The Contacts button only lists some options for the current view (Messages, Mesaages with Autopreview, Last Seven Days, etc) in the left pane. It does display "Contacts" at the top pf the pane. When I click the "Contacts" button on the left side of the Outlook window my contacts list does not display in the left pane but a list of Current View options for the previous window are displayed (message options if the previous window was Mail, calendar options if the previous window was Calendar). If I use the Folders button and then click Contacts folder in the folders view my contacts display as they should. This worked on my old computer but not on my new one. How can I get the Contacts button to display my contacts. |

Please, never rename PST files. If you are in the habit of doing so, that
may be what created the problem in the first place. Renaming a PST file will keep it from connecting properly to your Outlook profile. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Bill" wrote in message ... Ok. How should I have gotten my e-mails and contacts from the other .pst
file? Originally I was moving the .pst file from an old computer to a new computer. What is the proper method for copying an old file for use with a new computer? What is the proper method for copying an old file for use with a new computer? Copying the original PST from the old PC to the new one, placing it in a folder OTHER THAN the folder where Outlook creates PSTs by default. Make sure it is not read-only. Start Outlook. Click FileOpenOutlook Data File. Browse to the PST you copied, select it, and click OK. You'll now have access to all the data it contains and you can either copy that data to your default folders as you wish, make the added PST the delivery location so that its folders become your default folders, or simply use it in-place as it is. -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |
