Default delete words from dictionary

Its not my dictionary, its called CUSTOM.DIC, but from what I can tell its
Microsoft Word's dictionary of words I have told it to add to its dictionary.
Now I want to delete these words from its dictionary. Does anyone know how to
do that?

You can go the official route: Tools Options Spelling & Grammar Custom
Dictionaries Modify.

Or, since Custom.dic is just a plain-text file, you can simply edit it in
NotePad. You should find it in the folder C:\Documents and
Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Proof.

its not a text document. when i open it by
toolsoptionsSpelling&GrammarCustom Dictionariesdictionaries then
highlight the dictionary and click edit, I'm not able to edit this one. I can
any of the ones I ahve actually added, but this one is there already. these
words "came into being" by doing a spell check and then clicking "add"
instead of "change" and so now they are there and I need to delete them.

In recent Word buttons there's a Modify... button when you click on the
Custom.dic in Tools | Options | Spelling and Grammar | Custom Dictionaries.

I actually figured it out be accident. The problem was that this dictionary
was listed as the first one on the list and until I unchecked it, I couldn't
change it. Wierd, but then I was able to get ride of those odd words I had
and now everythings fine.
