Default transferring files from old pc to new and replace harddrive?

I have a Dell Dimension 8100 with a Vista Home Premium 32 bit Oerating system
and some additional software programs.
-I would like to transfer some files to my new Dell PC with a 64 bit Windows
7 O.S.
I don't know a good way to do this.
Secondly,
I would like to replace the harddrive in my old pc, and transfer the Vista
Operating System and several Software Programs to the new harddrive.
I don't know how to do this.
Any suggestions appreciated.

Whoops! Wrong newsgroup - this is about the Access database.

Transferring data: you could use an external USB drive or link the
machines using an Ethernet cable (may need a crossover cable).

For replacing the hard drive, look up Acronis True Image, or see if the
manufacturer of your new disk has a free utility to do this.

As Phillip said, wrong group. Also, be careful what apps you transfer to the
64 bit system. A 32 bit app may not work correctly on a 64 bit system.
