You have to be more specific on what you are trying to do. Where do
you want the border? Above (below, to the left of, to the right of)
the heading row, or elsewhere?

Apologies I realise that I didn't provide enough information initially.

A document has been set up as a template (by an ex-employee) and when tables
go over 2 pages, a border at the bottom and top of the table is added, which
is exactly what is required. However when the template is then used to
create a new document then the border does not appear when going over pages.

Two suggestions:

1. Table borders are usually repeated when a table continues on the
next page. (Personally, I find this very annoying.) Are you sure that
the borders are lost? Check FilePrint Preview.

2. Was the border added to the actual table and not to one or more
paragraphs (which are now deleted) inside table cells? Look in
FormatBorders and Shading.
