Default Sort order in Address Book

I know this question has been asked and answered- probably many times. In
Contacts the format is last name, first name. OK. The address book (using the
Contact folder) shows first name, last name. Is there a way to make it show
last name, first name without changing each address display name? There was a
similar Q&A on 12/15 but it wasn't exactly the same thing since the solution
didn't work. Thanks

Control Panel-Mail Icon-Accounts-Directories-View or Change-Change. Set your sort order from one of the two choices presented. Close and restart Outlook for the change to take effect.

After furious head scratching, David Shepard asked:
