OE6 downloads duplicate AOL messages
I have dial up. My OE6 is set to download the new messages on AOL then hang
up. I am getting all my new messages, but I am also getting lots of old messages. For example, yesterday I downloaded 30 new messages, today I downloaded 35 new message (the first 30 were downloaded yesterday too). Tomorrow I'll download 38 new messages (the first 35 of which were already downloaded). Any idea how to fix my problem???? Thank you. |

Check your account online to see if there is a message that is not
downloading. All messages must download before messages are marked as downloaded. There may be a large message that is causing the connection to timeout. Ron has it right. You might want to tell your friends to limit pictures to
under 1meg so your dial-up won't time out. -- I mastered Wordstar graphics! "Ron Sommer" wrote: Check your account online to see if there is a message that is not downloading. OE6 downloads duplicate AOL messages
Thanks Ron --
I check my e-mail at the library pretty much every day. Sometimes I delete messages at the library (esp. the large ones). . . I currently have 5 to 10 messages in my inbox on aol.com. However, as my OE6 at home is checking messages, I have 92 new messages to download. How can I find The One that is very large and causing a time out on my server? Any ideas? Thank you., -- betsy PS - I don't think I'm virus scanning my incoming messages. "Ron Sommer" wrote in message ... Check your account online to see if there is a message that is not downloading. No dice,
I just sat here for forever waiting for all messages to download . . . finally completed. I clicked "send and recived all" again (just to see if I would have 92 or 0 messages) and I still have 92 new messages. what's your next suggestion? "Ron Sommer" wrote in message ... Is this a pop3 account?
How many messages downloaded in the hour? If this is a pop3 account, then I don't know why OE would say there are 92 messages to download, when there are only 5 or 10 messages. -- Ron Sommer MS MVP-Mail "Mike & Betsy Yohe" wrote in message ... Is there a chance you have multiple AOL accounts?

N.Miller,
Actually AOL/AIM Mail can be access through POP3, and has been for a few years now. See the following webpage for the settings, need to click on link for SMTP & IMAP settings for AOL. http://email.about.com/od/accessinga...3_Settings.htm -- Add MS to your News Reader: news://msnews.microsoft.com Rich/rerat (RRR News) message rule Previous Text Snipped to Save Bandwidth When Appropriate "N.
