Default Outlook Personal Folders Backup tool to work in Outlook beta 2

I can't seem to get the Outlook backup tool to function in thr Beta version
of Outlook 2007. When I open backup from file and select options; is says " (
No personal file folders are currently open)" There are no options available
in the Backup Options to configure what Personal Folders to backup?

Does anyone have any ideas?

Go back to OL 2003. Beta versions do not work with older utilities. That's
why they're beta versions. OL 2003 backup cannot 'read' the newer file
format. When the final version is released, so will the new utilities.

Not entirely true; it's the other way around, the backup utility is not
compatible with Outlook 2007. It's not becaus of changes in the pst-format
or that Outlook 2007 is BETA. Once Outlook 2007 is final there'll probably
be an update of the back-up add-in.

To backup a simple copy of your pst-file to a save location will achieve the
same results. For more details see;

1st: there is no "newer" file format for Outlook 2007. Outlook 2007
supports the same Unicode and ANSI PSTs as Outlook 2003 did.

2nd: there's a post in this group from Sue Mosher that the Microsoft backup
utility does indeed work with Outlook 2007.

To Bernie: I don't have recent direct experience with that tool. Hold on and
see if someone who does can assist.

Here's how to get the free Personal Folders Backup tool from Microsoft installed and working in Outlook 2007:

1) Download the pfbackup.exe file from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...f-5a6322f4fd01

2) Use WinZip or a similar file extraction tool to extract the files in pfbackup.exe, launcher.exe and pfbackup.msi.

3) Double-click pfbackup.msi and follow the prompts to install it.

4) In Outlook 2007, choose Tools | Trust Center and choose Add-ins from the navigation list on the left. At the bottom of the Add-ins screen, under Manage, select COM Add-ins and click Go.

5) On the COM Add-ins dialog, click Add and navigate to the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE12\ADDINS folder. Select outbak.dll and click OK. When you return to the COM Add-ins dialog, you should see a new entry, Outlook Backup Addin, with its check box checked.

6) Click OK to close the COM Add-ins dialog.

7) In Outlook 2007, choose File | Backup and set your backup options.
