PowerPoint 2007 crashes when moving Pie Chart
Hi There,
I'm experiencing a problem with PowerPoint where it crashes when I click on and move a Pie Chart within my presentation. I'm currently running Office 2007 (SP2) on Windows XP (SP3) and have 2 GB RAM, at least 1.2 GB free when doing the operation. Please could you let me know if this is a bug and if there is a solution to this issue? Thank you. Reuben |

PowerPoint 2007 crashes when moving Pie Chart
This is not a bug I'm aware of.
How are you clicking and moving the pie chart? If you click on it and then hit the arrows on your keyboard, yes, it will crash. That is a bug. But that is not how you nudge a chart on a PPT 2007 slide, either! :-) Clicking the chart and clicking keyboard arrows just moves you from one object to another within the chart. To nudge a chart on a PPT 2007 slide, press Ctrl on your keyboard, then click the chart. See the little round handles? NOW you can use the arrow keys to move your chart around on the slide. (I know, I know, this is so not intuitive. I'm just the messenger!) Now, if you're clicking the chart and trying to drag with the mouse and you're crashing, that's a different story. Holler back if that's the case .... or if you're trying to move the chart by some other method. -- Echo [MS PPT MVP] http://www.echosvoice.com What's new in PPT 2007? http://www.echosvoice.com/2007.htm Fixing PowerPoint Annoyances http://tinyurl.com/36grcd PowerPoint 2007 Complete Makeover Kit http://tinyurl.com/32a7nx Don't Miss the PPTLive User Conference! Please could you let me know if this is a bug and if there is a solution to this issue? Echo's correct about the arrow keys crashing PPT when you use them on charts after SP2. While I hate to contrdict The Chart Goddess, the same or similar problem *can* also cause PPT to crash when you move a chart around via click and drag. In the example I saw, it doesn't happen anywhere as predictably as the arrowkey crash but does happen. It may help if you avoid moving the chart around repeatedly. Perhaps try to select something else, then go back to the chart if you need to move it several times in a row. If it crashes when you move the chart just once with the mouse, try deleting the slide and re-creating it. If that continues to crash immediately, we may want to get a copy of the file to send along to MS. ============================== PPT Frequently Asked Questions http://www.pptfaq.com/ PPTools add-ins for PowerPoint http://www.pptools.com/ Don't Miss the PPTLive User Conference! I experience crashes when trying to edit any chart or graph. Very little has
to be changed before it shuts down. Latest updates are all installed. Cannot work in the program. "Echo S" wrote: This is not a bug I'm aware of. How are you clicking and moving the pie chart?
