Pst file, Outlook Address Book and Outlook 2003
I use Outlook 2003 but my pst file was originally created way back in Outlook
97, and in between, it's been in use with Outlook 2000 and Outlook 2002. Those earlier versions of Outlook used an Address Book, and even though several posts I've read suggest Outlook2003 does NOT have an Address Book, I still have an Address Book icon and a Check Names icon on the Outlook2003 Email toolbar, which, until last week (even in OL2003) STILL brought up the Address Book, which was sometimes useful for quickly looking up a contact whilst composing an email. After I restored my .pst file to a new installation of Outlook 2003 on a new laptop last week, I had an occasional error message pop up telling me the 'Address Book cannot be found etc etc'. That's gone away now (sorry, I can't remember what changed in the meantime) but if I click on the Address Book icon on the Email Toolbar I get a 'Select Names' box, (without any names or Address Books to choose from). There is also still an Address Book icon on the Contacts form (Detailed , at the right hand end of the Email field/box. 1 Are the icons throwbacks to the older versions of Outlook? 2 Why did the Address Book function still work in Outlook 2003 on my old laptop but not the new, the Outlook version (2003) and the pst file haven't changed. |

The Outlook Address Book is just a view of your contacts. It has worked the
same in all versions of Outlook, and still does. You just haven't configured yours yet: http://support.microsoft.com/default...Product=ol2002 -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "browniebodrum" wrote in message ...
