Default Adding a digital signature causes problem with linked data

I tried to add a digital signature to a document which has linked data to
another document. Adding the digital signature caused the formatting of the
linked data to drop down one line for each area of data. It appears that an
"enter" character has been added to the beginning of each piece of linked
data. Removing the signature has not fixed the problem. The problems do
not show up under "print preview" and the document prints as wanted, but it
is causes allot of headaches trying to edit the document. Furthermore, this
has caused problems in ALL the documents with linked data, allthough I only
attempted to addd the signature to one document.
Please help.
