Put email back on server and imap versus pop
On my new computer, I connected Outlook to my school email account. The
account is IMAP, but I was not able to select IMAP, only POP3. After setting up the account, Outlook downloaded all of my mail onto the computer, removing it from the server. Is there a way for me to put it back on the server? How can I make it an IMAP account? THANKS! |

Hi there, In Outlook 2003 go to "Tools" "Email Accounts" "Create new email account" and choose the IMAP radio button. Set up the account correctly as IMAP. You should then be able to drag & drop messages from your "personal folders" to the IMAP server. I don't think you can drag & drop folders but must create folders on the server, click on the corresponding folder on your PC, select all & then drag & drop the lot to the folder on the mail server. You can't change an existing POP3 account to IMAP. The only problem I can see if if Outlook denies your attempt to create a new IMAP account with the same server name & credentials as your existing POP3 account. In this case simply delete the POP3 account. Stroller. |

Not with a POP account. POP is one-way. If you can change to an IMAP account (but us saying whether you can or not depends partly on knowing your Outlook version), then you can. -- Brian Tillman |
