"can grow" and printed forms
You may think this is not pretty (and it isn't) but I have to print forms
instead of reports, so things get messy. I know forms are not meant to be printed, but I've got to work with what I've been told to do. I've worked around most of my problems, but this one sticks out. I have a couple of fields set to grow on subform1. I have 2 subforms on my main page. The problem is when the fields grow it pushes some of the 1st form onto page 2 of the print, but it doesn't push subform 2 onto page 3, it cuts it in half (Subform1 appears on pages 1&2, which is fine, but subform 2 is displayed half on page 2 and half on page 3- not good). I haven't been able to make subform 1 appear on pages 1&2 and subform2 on page 3. Any ideas? I've tried putting page breaks after subform 1, but that doesn't work. NL Given that you can right-click your form and choose "save as report" and then put a button on your form that will print the report I fail to see how you can justify "I've got to work with what I've been told to do". The resulting report would look just like the form except that it can be made to print properly. -- Rick Brandt, Microsoft Access MVP Email (as appropriate) to... RBrandt at Hunter dot com |

"can grow" and printed forms
Rick's right, of course, but if I was told to "just do it like we told you to!
" I'd do just that! And when they complain, explain that what they got was what they asked for! -- There's ALWAYS more than one way to skin a cat! Answers/posts based on Access 2000/2003 Message posted via http://www.accessmonster.com |

Well actually, I'm the bosses son, so complaining isn't going to do anything. I thought I would get some help without having to include everything I have on my form. I have a muti-page tab control on my main form with two subforms on each tab page, that's why I can't save as report. So any ideas would help me out. -- Message posted via AccessMonster.com http://www.accessmonster.com/Uwe/For...forms/200805/1 |

Well once saved as a report you would eliminate the TabControl. Forms need them, reports don't. No matter which srewdriver you use, it will never be good at driving in a nail. You are using the wrong tool for what you need to accomplish. -- Rick Brandt, Microsoft Access MVP Email (as appropriate) to... RBrandt at Hunter dot com |

"can grow" and printed forms
The group wants printouts of their forms. There are about 16 pages of forms
that are filled in and they want each on printed. I thought I could just put a couple of forms on a page to reduce the number of pages that are printed. The group doesn't want summaries, they just want a version of what they have, but also keep the data on file. It was working, untill I realized that "can grow" options screw up my pages. I know that it's not what it was desinged to do, but is there ANY way I can get it to do what I want it to do? -- Message posted via AccessMonster.com http://www.accessmonster.com/Uwe/For...forms/200805/1 |
