"The operation failed"
I have an archive pst that I'd like to right-click/close in OL2003. I get
"the operation failed. An object could not be found." I've renamed and replaced the pst file with a copy of another pst that works fine, but get the same error, so it seems not related to the file itself. I also get the error clicking on the properties/advanced button. I also had this error in OL2002, and I upgraded to OL2003, hoping it might get resolved. Any ideas on how to close it? -- George Small EDS HAI Unit |

You'll either need to edit the registry or make a new profile. A new profile
is usually easier, and often required if you screw up deleting the key, but since the errant pst is likely to have a unique file name, your chances of success are higher. Find your profile in Windows Messaging Subsystem, usually at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles and search for the pst name, if you know it. Otherwise search for 'pst' and guess at which one it is. Normally a pst has two keys associated with it - this one will have just one. Delete the key from the right side of the screen. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Author, Teach Yourself Outlook 2003 in 24 Hours Coauthor, OneNote 2003 for Windows (Visual QuickStart Guide) Author, Google and Other Search Engines (Visual QuickStart Guide) Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com Join OneNote Tips mailing list: http://www.onenote-tips.net/ "George Small" wrote in message ...
