Default shapes don't open

This seems to be a recent development...
When I select File - Shapes - Open stencil and select my most used
stencil nothing happens. other custom stencils open fine. Any
suggestions how to resolve this?

What is "my most used stencil"?

"my most used stencil" is the one I use most often. It is a custom
stencil, CableConnectors.vss, that contains custom cable and connector
shapes.

Where is this stencil? Is it in the My Shapes folder? Is it in a path
pointed to by the Stencils Path?

Yes, to both questions. I'm accessing it using the Visio menu:
"File - Shapes - Open stencil" and it is available right there.

Nothing happens!
Is this on a new drawing?
What happens if you create a new drawing and open this stencil?
What about if (with Visio closed) you open the stencil by double
clicking it. What happens then?
Are your stencils docked or floating? It might already be open but
moved off the side of the screen somewhere.

I have a utility at
http://www.visio-utilities.sandrila.co.uk/
install this and use the menu SuperUtils - Stencil - Stencil Report
Is your stencil in the list?

I've just done a test and even an empty file of 0 bytes called
dummy.vss opens and shows as an empty stencil.

If none of the above works then email me the stencil file to

Paul. I found that the stencil was open in the file already but the
title was "Stencil34"
so when I tried to open it, nothing happened because it was already
open. When I opened it independantly as you suggested of visio I say
the Stencil34 title and the light bulb came on. Ive changed the title
to match the contents. I just dont remember this being a problem
befor but its been around a year since I used the file.

Thanks for your help.
