Custom Properties and Inheritance
I have created several custom shapes and added custom properties to them.
Having done that I have created diagrams using these shapes. I now want to add an additional custom property to one of the shapes. Is there a way to add the new custom property to the master and have it be auto-magically inherited by all the instances of the shape in all my diagrams. The only thing I have found so far is open a diagram, find the shape in question, note all it's custom properties, delete the shape, add the new shape from the master, manually add the old data for the previously existing custom properties, then add the data for the new custom property. I have to beleive there is a better way. Thanks, Michael |

There is no simple way to update shapes in more than one document. Your
best bet may be to write a macro that performs the necessary changes to your master in each file. If you have Visio 2003, you can use Macro Recorder to assist with this. -- Mark Nelson Microsoft Corporation This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
