Default Junk mail rules not working

I get a lot of junk mail that use the same "spam words" in the subject
and/or body text, but the sender (I assume the names are fake) and domains
keep changing. So I set up a Rule to screen for spam words in the subject
line or body text, then move those messages to the Junk folder, and then
Permanentaly Delete them. Based on the junk I receive, some of the spam
words are lottery, low rate, low rates, lowest rates, etc. However, Outloook
2003 does not seem to act on the Rule. Some of the messages wind up in my
Inbox, some in the Junk folder, and none of them are deleted.

The Rule looks like this
Conditions:
- On this machine only (my computer is not on a network)
- With specific words in the subject
- With specific words in the subject or body [could this and the previous
condition be confusing Outlook?]

What do you want to do with the message?
- Stop processing more rules [This box is checked automatically when I check
Permanently Delete It]
- Permanently delete it
- Move it the specified folder [Junk E-mail]

I have also tried unchecking Move it to the Junk folder in case that was
conflicting with "Permanently delete it", but that did not change anything.
New spam continued to be sent to the Junk folder, and was not deleted.

For example, right now, I am looking at one such message with LOWEST RATES,
one of the spam phrases specified in the Rule, in the body text. The message
is in my Junk folder, and even manually running the Rule does not delete it.
Since this happens about 10 or 15 times a day, it's getting to be bit of a
pain. Any suggestion on how to make the Rule work.

Thank you.

What version of Outlook are you using? Have you tried SpamBayes?

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. All
unsolicited mail sent to my personal account will be deleted without
reading.
