Default Need my contacts and calendar restored

I had to re-format my hard drive. I upgraded to Office XP 2002 from Office
2000. I saved all data to my second hard drive before I began. When I
installed Outlook, I tried to transfer all my contacts and calendar from my
Palm Pilot and in the process, Outlook wiped out everything on the Palm.

I figured, OK, I've sill got it all on the second hard drive; but where is
it and how do I get it back? I've searched for address and calendar files and
all I get are *.dat files. Where would the files be kept and how do I restore
them?

I'd appreciate any help you could give me.

The file you need to back up is your Personal Folders file (*.pst) It's
where all the
mail, calendar, contacts etc are stored.

Take a look at these pages for info on Outlook data backup:
http://www.slipstick.com/config/backup.htm

I've checked there and even did a search on the computer for *.pst files and
only came up with a mail.pst and Ms Exchange SettingsHostmail.pst. Tried to
copy them over to my folder and nothing happened when I opend Outlook. I'm
desperate. I don't have my contacts or calendar.

Yes, I've checked all hidden files, too.

OK. Here's the latest.

I did a search on my spare hard drive and found several *.pst files, but a
couple seemed like the ones I wanted. They were a mailbox.pst with a size of
6.9 M, and and Outlook.pst with a size of 3.1 M. I followed the instructions
in Outlook's help file to import them and the computer wouldn't show them,
even though I've checked in file options to view hidden files and system
files.

So I tried to move them by dragging them from the search list into Outlook.
Can't do that. So I dragged them into another folder and opened them in
Outlook. The files are blank. There's nothing in them.

Any further suggestions? This is starting to scare me that I've totally lost
everything, even though I copied everything to the spare hard drive.

PLEASE, SOMEBODY!?!?!?

Why did you import them?
Open them in Outlook. Importing them is just another good way to lose more
data.

I don't know that I actually went through the process of restoring the files.
I copied everything from the hard drive onto the new hard drive for a backup.
Now that I've restored my system, I went to the files of the computer before
to find the Outlook files. Where might I find them? I fear they are lost into
cyber eternity. PLEASE help. What more can I do? I figured copying all the
files would save these files for future access.

Thanks

I tried to open them and all that happens is Outlook opens a new e-mail
and
the file appears as an attachment to it. Trying to open it from there does
the same thing.

What do you mean you copied all the files?
There is only one file in which all data is stored. The file you need to
back up is your Personal Folders file (*.pst) It's where all the mail,
calendar, contacts etc are stored.

Take a look at these pages for info on Outlook data backup:
