Custom Views Change unexpectedly

I think I've found a problem in how OL 2003 handles the Custom Views. This
may may be related to several other posts I've seen here.

The problem I'm seeing is that when I define a Custom View, the parameters
get changed unexpectedly. When I define a custom View, I expect those
settings to stay, even if I alter an individual folder that is using that
view. But I'm seeing that changes made to the folder are being reflected in
not just the current folder, but in the Custom view as well as ALL folders
that are using that view.

Here's what i did:

Create a new custom view: view | Arrange by... | Current Views | Define
Views...
I click New... In this I change say 'Sort...' Then Close to save.

If I apply this view to several folders, all seems ok. BUT then while
viewing one of those folders, I make a change such as click on a column
header, Say the Subject, to re-sort the folder, that change is applied to the
view definition and changes ALL folders that are assigned that view.

Has anyone else seen this type of behavior?
