Default Internet Mail With Outlook 97

Having just ordered a PDA which comes with Outlook 2002 I
decided I would move all my mail and addresses from
Agent/Address Book into Outlook 97 which I have with Office 97.
It's all in there after going via Eudora in what seems to be the
traditional way of doing this.

I am now stuck because I can't see what I need to do to persuade
Outlook to collect my POP3 mail.

I have tried adding the 'MINET.ECF' add in but nothing seems to
happen, certainly I don't seem to get any additional
options/services shown as available.

I am beginning to wonder if this is a good idea, OL crashed
three times during the import processes, I then discovered it
had managed to carry out the import of messages three times and
addresses twice, merrily adding two extra sets of 'Personal
Folders' each with duplicate entries.

Can anybody give me some guidance on setting it up for Internet
Mail (POP3)? If it just doesn't work that would be good to know,
I won't waste any more time with it.

Many thanks.

OK, if Outlook 97 can see the items, you now need to install Outlook 2002 in
order to properly sync with your PDA. Upgrading from OL 97 to OL 2002
should retain all your items, but just in case, save a copy of your PST to
another folder.

After installing Outlook 2002, add the POP account with Control
PanelMailE-mail AccountsAdd a new e-mail accountNextPOP3Next and
answer the questions.

Brian

Thanks for that.

My problem was getting OL 97 to download Internet mail - I've
now discovered it's a two stage process, add the add-in then add
the service, goodness knows why? Mind you it's the first mail
program I've used that doesn't have native support for importing
bog standard Unix mail files so I should expect some quirks!

Anyway, I am re-assured by your comments on upgrading, it should
be here Monday.

Regards.
